Interesting facts about stingrays in Japan
There a number of different stingray species found in Japan with the most common type being the Red Stingray. Other species include the Izu Stingray (most commonly found in the waters around the Izu Peninsula), the Blue-spotted stingray, and the Pitted stingray.
Also, eating stingray may sound strange to most Westerners, but it’s pretty common in countries like Iceland and Japan. In Japan, the dish is called Eihire and is often enjoyed while drinking alcohol.
